The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has signed contracts for two projects worth SR846 million, as part of its efforts to ensure efficient power supply to Madinah.

SEC Executive President Ali Saleh Al-Barrak, who signed the two contracts, said the projects would enhance the transmission capacity to meet the needs of rising levels of consumption.

The new projects will boost the capacity of the Al-Kadmi central transformer station in Jazan and the central transformer station in east Abha, Al-Barrak said, adding that the work has to be completed in 29 months since the date of the contract award.

The contracts also include erection of transmission towers with the capacity above 380 kilowatts linking the Rabigh power generation station with Madinah’s supply network, which will guarantee uninterrupted power supply to Madinah.

With the commissioning of the stations and transmission lines, the power supply in Madinah will become highly efficient and totally free from power failures besides ensuring steady power supply to industrial establishments, he added.
