Qatar issues design tender for World Cup stadium

Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee, the body responsible for delivering Qatar’s 2022 World Cup, has issued a tender for design services for a new stadium project.
The organisation has placed an advertisement in  media coverage  calling on firms interested in bidding to provide design consultancy services ffor a “Fifa-compliant stadium project”.
Potential bidders need to meet a number of criteria, including a ten-year period of trading for the lead consultancy – or five years’ experience for any sub-consultants or partner bodies.
The firm must also have experience of providing design consuyltancy services for existing sports stadium contracts and must have provided services forr a stadium or mixed-use projects with a capacity of at least 40,000 seats.
Similarly, it must prove that it has the financial capacity to deliver the scheme and be legally registered, chartered or licensed to provide design consultancy services.
Expressions of interest need to be received by the committee by its deadline of noon on 25 April.Qatar is planning to build nine new stadiums to host matches for the 2022 World Cup, including an 80,000-seat flagship Lusail Iconic Stadium planned for Al-Daayeen. It is also planning to upgrade three existing stadiums.
