Kuwait University (KU) signed a contract for the construction, maintenance and completion of package (4B) of the Civil works for tunnel services (the eastern side) of the infrastructure works in Sabah Al-Salem University – Kuwait University, with the winning bidder Kuwait Company for Civil Works, while the Contract value is 27,200,10 million KD with an implementation period of 770 days.
Al-Bader signed the contract on behalf of KU , Mua’ayed Al-Saleh signed for Kuwait Company for Civil Works .
The Contract signing was attended by Acting Secretary General of KU Bader Diab , Director of the Construction Program Dr. Rana Al-Faris and Assistant Director of the Construction Program Dr. Rawa’a Jarallah.
Dr. Rana Al-Faris pointed out that the Global consultant, Canadian Consortium Architects in collaboration with local advisor Dar SSH International Consultants, designed package 4B and will oversee its implementation.
For his part, managing engineer on the implementation of the infrastructure works of this package Mohamed AbdulGhani indicated that this package is considered the backbone of the campus, where infrastructure lines and networks will be extended and will provide to all university and services’ buildings at the campus .
The implementation period is about 770 days, including the concrete body for the main and subsidiary tunnels to the buildings located in the eastern part of the campus which are colleges, central services station and services’ buildings with a total of 122000 m3 of reinforced concrete and will also include escape ladders, cliffs, ventilation corridors to the outside of the tunnel as well as the implementation of the required openings in the tunnel for the infrastructure networks that will be implemented through package 3A and metal works including power cables’ paths and maintenance lanes of electricity networks.
