A huge fire engulfed a few garages in Sharq Industrial Area, spreading across an area of 1,500 square meters and resulting in heavy smoke throughout the area. A total of 80 firefighters from six fire stations exerted tremendous efforts to contain the fire before it spread further.
The Public Relations Department of Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) explained in a press statement that the Control Room of KFSD, after receiving information about the fire, dispatched six fire teams to the location along with security men and paramedics.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that four garages were completely destroyed in the fire and there were damages to two other garages. The garages contained tires, spare parts, and motorcycles which were all damaged in the fire.
Firefighters faced some difficulty in dealing with the fire, as the roofs of the garages were made of prefabricated materials which collapsed due to the fire.Director General of KFSD Major General Khalid Al-Mekrad and other high-ranking fire officials were present at the site.No casualties were reported. Investigations have been launched to determine the cause of the fire.
