Deputy mayor for Jeddah’s projects and construction Ibrahim Kutubkhana has announced that the city’s metro, the third planned in the Kingdom, is expected to cost around $9.3bn.The project plans envisage a network that is 108 kilometers long, has three lines and 46 stations.
The project is in the phase of completing the initial studies – this is being carried out by the Ministry of Transport. Later it will be tendered to international consortia for engineering, procurement and construction.The time frame for the project will be set after the initial studies are completed.
It will consist of three major lines, which will be called Orange, Blue and Green lines and a planned public transport system also includes a bus service using 816 buses linking metro stations with all residential districts in the city.
