Kuwait’s General Administration of Civil Aviation is preparing to issue a tender for the operation, management, training, monitoring and control, maintenance, improvements, and development of air navigation services at Kuwait International Airport Terminal 2 (T2).
The winning operator should be available two years before operating the airport to train a large number of aviation employees on operating airports with the most modern means.
The construction work for the project is being carried out by Limak Holding Inc. and over 50% of the construction completion has been achieved. The project involves the construction of a new passenger terminal building over an area of 708,000 sqm as part of the Kuwait International Airport expansion project.
The terminal building comprises a basement level, a ground floor, and 2 additional floors. It will be connected to the existing terminal building via an access tunnel and located close to the taxi stands which will feature check-in desks, immigration facilities, press, tobacco, souvenirs, and duty-free shops, restaurant, cafes, mini markets, exchange houses, banks, and a modern baggage-handling system.
The project will also include a 400-bed transit hotel, 30 fixed bridges to accommodate 51 aircraft simultaneously, waiting rooms, and parking areas with a capacity for 5000 cars. The new terminal building features 51 gates to accommodate up to 13 million passengers per year.
