High-tech complex was built in nine days, stretches across 46,500 square feet and is dedicated to treating workers from nearby labour accommodation.A new 46,500 sqft quarantine centre has been opened on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi.
Authorities note that the centre, named Complex 3, can house almost 10,000 patients and is an addition to the Al Razeen field hospital.The Al Razeen hospital opened in May to treat coronavirus patients and to lift the burden from existing centres. The hospital is said to have 200 beds for regular COVID-19 patients plus an intensive care unit with 50 beds.
According to a report by The National, Complex 3 opened on June 7 and is operated by medical staff, administrators and security personnel. Patients transferred to the complex are said to be kept for the duration of their quarantine period to avoid infecting others with COVID-19.
Faisal Al Kamali, vice president of facility and infrastructure management at the centre, said the extension has 2,784 rooms and was built in “record time” and can accommodate 9,984 patients. Patients at the complex are given access to all necessary services and have three daily meals delivered, said Al Kamali, who is also Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs.
