Assistant Undersecretary for Passport and Residency Affairs at Ministry of Interior Major General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah affirmed that the implementation of the e-passport system and the DNA law will start in November 2016, following the arrival of the second batch of 65,000 e-readers and the first batch of 50,000 DNA testing equipment, reports Al-Rai daily.
Major General Al-Jarrah said e-readers have been installed at the border checkpoints and a security team will inspect the airports to experiment the new e-readers using the new e-passports before implementing the e-passport system.
Regarding the international remarks over the DNA law, he indicated that each state knows the best procedures that it should adopt for maintaining its security and stability.In response to the local criticisms over the DNA law, Major General Al-Jarrah insisted that the law is not aimed to reveal family secrets or genealogical aspects, as this is not part of the mission of Ministry of Interior.
He affirmed that the information will be top secret and the law will strongly punish those who reveal them.
