Drake & Scull has revealed that it has signed a deal with Chinese telecoms and IT equipment firm Huawei to partner on a new venture to deliver data centres across the region.
The agreement follows talks held at the GITEX Technology Week exhibition held last week and was signed by Drake & Scull CEO Khaldoun Tabari and Huawei Enterprise Middle East’s president Dong Wu.
Huawei will provide IT equipment covering data centres, IP networking and Unified Communications and Collabouirations (UCC). Drake & Scull will provide design and build services for the centres.Mr Wu said: “We are living in an era of big data with organizations in the region demanding infrastructure and networks that need to be highly secure, scalable and reliable.
“As part of Huawei’s commitment to cross-industry collaboration and customer-centric innovation, this latest alliance with DSI will enable Huawei to further apply over a decade of experience in data center solutions.”
Tabari added: “Together with Huawei, we look forward to combining the best practices of both our organizations in supporting partners across the MENA region to get the most out of their ICT investments.”Research group Gensler estimates that the value of the data centre market worldwide is set to grow from $143bn this year to $149bn in 2014.
