UK based Petrofac Wins $687m of Abu Dhabi contracts.

UK-based contractor Petrofac has revealed that it has won a pair of oil & gas contracts in Abu Dhabi relating to the Bab field worth a total of $687m.

The company said that it has landed a $500m engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract from Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO) to expand the compression facilities at the Bab field, which is 150km south west of Abu Dhabi City.

The work will involve modifying three existing compressor stations and installing a fourth, as well as adding 27 well head facilities, gas pipelines and manifolds. The work will take around 30 months.

The second contract is another EPC deal with ADCO to develop its Bab Habshan-1 project. This will take 20 months to complete and involves the installation of water injection clusters and wells, oil production wells, electrical and instrumentation equipment and power transmilssion lines.

Both awards were granted to the firm following competitive tendering processes and will be carried out by Petrofac Emirates – the company’s joint venture with Abu Dhabi Investment company-owned Mubadala Petroleum.

The managing director of Petrofac’s Onshore Engineering & Construction division, Subramanian Sarma, said: “To extend our portfolio with ADCO, who are a very important customer for us, is particularly pleasing and continues to reinforce our position in the Middle East.
