Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) announced on Sunday that it plans to launch a wide-scale recycling project at the oil sector complex with a special ceremony this Thursday.
A KPC press release said Kuwait is in great need of serious recycling projects and stressed recycling requires the cooperation of all society components, both individuals and state and other bodies.
The ceremony on Thursday would include an exhibition with leading companies in the field of recycling in Kuwait taking part to introduce staff to means to actively contribute to preservation of the environment, according to KUNA.
KPC is eager to take bigger steps to introduce staff to the concept of recycling and to encourage them to implement it both at work and in their daily lives.
The team handling this project had last week distributed special containers to all KPC offices and facilities in the main building for collection of recyclable material. The team is also launching a special campaign to increase awareness and instill a sense of responsibility among staff.
The project aims at recycling paper, ink cartridges, expired medication, old electrical equipment, used batteries, and light bulbs which require special handling to avoid hazard.
The ceremony on Thursday is being sponsored and attended by Executive Chairman Farouq Al-Zanki in cooperation with Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR).
